A couple months ago I entered a contest to win a Razer peripheral (and also just for funs). The challenge was to create a profile or some kind of backstory for your character in SWTOR and I decided to write a series of “holodisc” recordings that my character made before she became a Jedi. :D
I didn’t win the contest (there were SO many amazing entries) and I’m not really playing SWTOR anymore, but I really liked how the writing turned out so I wanted to share! The setting is based in a time thousands of years before the story we know from the popular films. I hope you enjoy it whether or not you are a fan of the genre!

- #1 -“This is Yumi Anora. It has been two days since the Empire’s attack on Aldera and my father has yet to return. He journeyed with my younger sister, Elva, and I to an old safehouse in the surrounding wilderness, but then left soon after to join the Republic forces. He is an excellent medic and I assume is still much needed, since the bombardment on the city’s shield still has not ceased.
I’m going to try to keep up with my training on my own as best as I can. No matter what, I WILL become a Jedi Consular. I found this empty holodisc in our supplies pack and I am going to try to record what has been happening. Elva keeps asking for Father… I hope he returns soon.”
- #2 -“We awoke this morning to a silent dawn. The explosions had stopped and we saw Republic ships circling Aldera, which meant victory! In our excitement we ran down the path towards the city… it… it is difficult to continue this memory… but I know I must.
Once we reached the forest’s edge, we could do nothing but stand in shock. Aldera itself had survived the bombardment, its shield holding firm, but the area surrounding the city had been completely decimated. Debris littered the surrounding valley… and the bodies… there were so many. Elva began to weep in distress and only my training to control emotion kept me from completely breaking down as well.
We searched for Father among the survivors… but we did not find him. No one seems to know what happened to him! I promised Elva we would not rest until he was with us again. Now I must go and continue helping to heal the wounded…”
- #3 -“Five months have now passed since the invasion. It has been too long since my last entry, but Elva and I have been helping to rebuild the city so there has been no time. Father is still missing… his body was not found among the dead nor the survivors.
I am at peace with the thought that he is gone. Elva, however, is not. She is starting to blame me for not taking more time to search for him. She is so young and passionate. Hopefully, she will soon settle… [door slams] … Elva? What are you doing here? You are supposed to be… wait.. stop, STOP!!”
… [static] …
- #4 - “I… I just came to. Elva is gone, I have no idea what came over her! All of a sudden she rushed into the room and knocked me unconscious with some blunt object… I think it was a blaster, where did she get a weapon?? I can’t imagine what… wait, she left a letter here. [paper rustles]
‘Yumi, I am sorry it had to come to this. But I can’t stand your weakness and lack of faith in Father’s survival any longer. Goodbye.’
Oh Elva… why did I not predict this. I must find her, even if it means delaying my Jedi training. I WILL find her!”
