Got My Wedding Dress!

So YES! My mom flew in to spend our birthday weekend together (our birthday was yesterday, we share it!) and we went dress shopping on Saturday. :D Thankfully the “snowpocalypse” didn’t hit northern Kentucky too badly, so we were able to drive through the slushy roads to get to the bridal shop, which was about an hour away.

Alfred Angelo

I had called around to different shops previously to see if they had this particular dress in stock for me to try on. Thanks be to Jess (my MoH) who reminded me the benefits of actually being able to try on that dress if I really did like it. I got a few shops saying “we can just order it for you” but I don’t want to PAY before I actually see it on me, psh.

The store was very small and run by an older couple who were very sweet! The lady pulled the dress I had come in to try along with two others by the same designer, Alfred Angelo. I really must thank my friend Angela for linking that designer’s website when she was in search of her own dress! I loved it from the first time I saw the photo on the site!

I didn’t have a “wow factor” or a “zomg this is the ONE” kind of moment, I’d just already known forever that that’s the dress I wanted. So it took me only about 15 minutes to say “yup!” and pay for it and leave the store, haha!

I tried on the other two just to get a feel for different styles and so the lady could figure out the base dress size to order for me.

My criteria for a dress was pretty vague overall, but I knew I wanted it to have color on it. Preferably yellow because that’s my fave! I was a bit worried on the site because they only had two yellow shades (“Butter” and “Sunshine”) and they both looked way too pale.

But hoping it would look better in person, I asked the bridal shop lady if she had any of the bridesmaids dresses in “Sunshine” and she did!! It looked awesome, much more golden toned than on the site, so YAY!

Sooooo…. this is my dress but with “Sunshine” as the trim color! There are no photos of me trying it on because the sample they had came with a dark blue trim and was a couple sizes too small so it wouldn’t fully zip, hehe.

But MINE should get to the shop in 8-10 weeks, she said, and that’s when I’d go in for my first fitting! Might take photos then… or maybe I’ll just leave it a surprise for afterward. ;D
