Bob the Pirate & CSS Resources

I spent all night last night making this simple flash game for a university class. :P I think it turned out ok! I made it in like 8 hours with Photoshop and Flash 8. It won’t take you hours to play, maybe not even minutes if you are crafty! The song is from Free Play Music, which is a great resource for free stock music, by the way. Also, I’m not too savvy with flash yet so I didn’t know how to make a mute button. Also I was lazy. :P So I’m sorry if the funky pirate music is too silly, hehe.

Find the Treasure!Click to popup the flash game and play!

Bob the Pirate wishes you to help him find his treasure! So what are you waiting for, matey?! Swab the decks and shiver your timbers! Polish your sword and buckle your boots! Hitch a ride on Bob’s pirate ship and sail into the high seas of adventure!

Resources for the designer!

CSS Naked Day has come and gone! All around it was a good time and very informative, I think. It’s interesting to see what your website looks like “nekkid”, hehe. Without all its color and pizazz it is actually easy to pick out things that should be changed behind the “scenes”. A better hierarchy of content order and navigation. Anyone else have this revelation while strippin’ yesterday?

I discovered BrowserShotsthe other day! Why haven’t I found this before! Here I was downloading all of these different browsers to view my site in when I could have just used this website. Silly me. And apparently this site is already well known around the web, so I feel extra silly. Sillyish, even…*wriggles*. ;)

CSS Speech Bubbles

Another cool thing I found is this huge linkbait for CSS menus, which I will keep an eye on for future layout designs. There are so many amazing things you can do with CSS! You can make corners, boxes, speech bubbles…hell, you can even make a pixel car! Also, if you are heavy into CSS and want to maybe optimize your stylesheets more, definitely check out CSSTidy, which is an open source CSS parser and optimizer. I’m working on a new style for my site and am totally using this to help me break down my main stylesheet.

Just in case you missed it…

Hilarity ensued on the Q*Bee after we finished an awesome forum game a couple days ago. If you are active on a forum, I highly suggest starting a game like this, it has hilarious results! :D The game is called the Three Word Story, and it works by creating a story, post by post, of three word sentences. For example, the topic starter will say something like “Bob went to” and then someone could reply to the topic with “the fun house”, the third could say “and he shimmied”, and so on. Each post must only be three words!

It’s awesome and way too much fun to read the whole thing at the end! Feel free to read the amazing story that came out of the BBS! :D I’m hungry and have not slept for almost 36 hours. XD Ha! At least it’s Friday, yay weekend! :) Hope everyone has a great one!

    Haha, this game is so funny! You yellow bellied trout! XD Was it hard to make? Oh, you to let you know, it didn’t open in a popup for me (it’s probably because I did something stupid anyway), so I just typed the URL in the addresss box and it worked.

    Have fun!

      Thanks! And it wasn’t as hard to make as I thought it would be. Once you figure out some things with flash it’s pretty easy! And it may be something with Javascript that didn’t allow you to open it, but I’m glad you were able to get to it!

    The new game rocked. I cried a couple of times when the native people attacked. Na I didn’t, but it was annoying! As is any game. Well done. :gb:

    I really should post links I find more often haha. Somewhere I have a CSS tidier, where all you gotta do is input your CSS and it tidies it for you if your lazy :P.

    The one thing I think would help out with the 71 CSS page is if they posted up example graphics, though I can see why s/he probably didn’t–too lazy! :P

    I linked it, so thanks for that one.

    In regards to the ebay fiasco:

    Ebay contacted all the sellers telling them that my account was hack and I’m not being held liable for anything that was bid on. I felt horrible telling some of these people that, No, I am not paying you $3k for a computer and I’m certainly not paying you $4.5mil for some weird ass patent, hah.

    The game was great! It took me a bit to get to the end :P
    If you want a mute button its just a matter of actionscripting the behaviour of stop all sounds. Its the easiest rather than going through the volume control which is kind of painful.

    on (press) {
    //stopAllSounds Behavior
    stopAllSounds();
    }

    Its really fantastic. I love the art style :)
